The Lone Ranger
The Lone Ranger with his.... "Hi-Yo,Silver! Away!" First appeared in 1933 on a WXYZ radio show. It was a tremendous hit, with old and young alike tuning in listen to the next old west tale. The ranger and his faithful native Indian companion Tonto fought on the side of good, against injustice, in the old west.
The show was such a huge success, that it spun off into television. It proved to be just as popular on the screen as on the radio. The show ran from 1949 till 1957.
Clayton Moore was the Lone Ranger and Jay Silverheels was Tonto. Tonto was with the Ranger for every episode and would refer to him as "Ke-mo sa-bee." Which translated means
..."Trusted friend."
The man shot only silver bullets and always wore a mask. When departing on his steed Silver and riding into the sunset, after vanquishing the bad guys, someone in the group of on lookers would ask...."Who was that masked man anyway?"
