Irene "Granny" Ryan

Jessie Irene Noblitt. was born to an American father, James Merrit Noblitt, and an Irish immigrant mother, Katherine McSharry.

In 1962, Irene Ryan was cast as Daisy "Granny" Moses, the matriarch of the Clampett clan, in the CBS-TV comedy series.

When there were only 3 or 4 channels to choose from.... The Beverly Hillbillies was a smash hit and a favorite of mine.
The show aired from..... 1962-1971

In 1973 Irene "Granny" Ryan passed away.
She had no surviving relatives.... and with an estate worth over $1 million, she decided to start the Irene Ryan Acting Foundation providing annual scholarships for promising student actors to this very day.
