The cries, "Hey, Poncho! Hey, Cisco" are something that no one who grew up with TV western's, could ever get out of heads! This western, The Lone Ranger and a host of others, shaped young minds to believe in truth and justice; and are still so much fun to watch....to this day.

 In "Yesterday Television" Cowboys are somewhat outdated for most of the youth of today. But, not all....So return to yesteryear and view them just as your Grand Parents and Great Grand Parents...did. Enjoy the show!

Mr. Potato Head had  plastic parts with pushpins that could be stuck into a real potato that your parents provided. Oh... the funny faces you could come up with!
Seems the government had to step in, smelling that some thing had to done, about that Mr. Potato Head!
The  real potato in had to go!
There were tons of rotten potatoes, out there at the bottom of those toy boxes, just a reeking for the change.
 This commercial is from the 1970s....long after Hasbro added the plastic head.





Mr. Potato Head is still available to buy....children everywhere still enjoy his company.

Say The Secret Word

As a child I remember watching Groucho! How about you? I asked a young man just the other day, do you know  who Grouch Marx is?
30 + years and
he had never heard of my man Groucho! So here is a rerun....think I missed this one..... you might have too. This episode is from February 9, 1956.

Yes.... Groucho from The Marx Brothers fame of the movies from a decade or two before this....hosted a honest to goodness game show in the 50s.
  
"You Bet Your Life" Starring Groucho Marx....was a well loved program where Groucho would show off his wit and charm, trying to get the contestants to say the word of the day.

The first contestant to play 'You bet your life' on this showing, is a Mrs. Helen Schwartz, the mother of movie star Tony Curtis. The word for the day for this program was....door.

"Masquerade Party"

A very popular game show from the 50s....This one aired May 22,1955, with Peter Donald Esquire as host. Seems it is up to a panel of experts to figure out who is the celebrity. Truely a classic......enjoy.

Today's gem, that I found in the public domain, hails from January, 1955. This is complete with commercials,  I embedded it just the way, I found it.

The 64 Million $ Question

The season premiere show opens with Dean Martin as Hal April, the host of The $64,000,000 Question. Jerry Lewis plays returning champ Morty M.M. Morton who, against his will, is risking his winnings for more cash. Once he survives a ridiculously hard question in the isolation booth, he's ready for the $64,000,000 question. This program aired on September 18, 1955 and went on to be called The Colgate Variety Hour.

 An NBC variety series that began as a radio program that aired from 1933 till 1949.

Jam packed with music and comedy,the show also contains lots of fun dated references, as well as the original commercials for various products by Kraft.
