Patty Duke, who won fame with her stage and screen portrayals of Helen Keller in "The Miracle Worker," died Tuesday 3/29/2016, according to her agent. She was 69. 
                                                           This commercial is from 1959.

"Name That Tune" is an Yesterday Television game show that tested contestants on their knowledge of songs.
Premiering in the United States Of America on NBC Radio in 1952..... it transitioned to television in 1953.
In this episode, which aired on CBS, we have George DeWitt as host to contestants who think they can...."Name That Tune."
This embedded program is complete with commercials and aired on July 27,1959.
 

Make Mine Freedom

This Cold War-era cartoon from 1948 uses humor to tout the dangers of Communism and the benefits of capitalism.
 I am not old enough to have seen this film in a public school as part of.... "Social Studies."
But, I'm sure back in school the 1950s, this seemed a little bit.... out there.

The adult children of parents who had lived through the Great Depression and WWII. With prosperity on their minds, or just, merely wanting to replace Mom's old wringer washer or washboard with something a we bit more modern.
 I don't know why.....but the appliance manufacturers seem to never disappoint us here at .....
